RAK Giver Story: Mission Accomplished

I was challenged to perform a random act of kindness today and I’m glad I took the challenge!

I bought the coffee/donut for the guy behind me at Tim Horton’s this morning as well as bought hot chocolate for a friend and his coworker and dropped them off at his place of employment this morning!

What a great start to the day!

RAK Giver Story: A Larger than Usual Tip

While traveling, my wife and I were eating at a restaurant and we had heard our waitress telling one of the patrons – who seemed like a regular – about how she had to work so much and she was short on her rent for that month and it was due that day. During the course of our meal, she came to our table to refill drinks and it was obvious she had been crying although she was trying to cover it up. At the end of our meal, when we paid our bill, we decided to add a $50 tip to our $25 bill to help with her rent shortage. We just knew we had to do it.

RAK Recipient: Unexpected Food Delivery

Today, our family was the recipient of a Random Act of Kindness. A friend (who is one of the pastors at our church) had texted me a little while ago and asked if I was home and that he had something to bring to us. He said he dropped into his office today (his normal day off) and sitting outside his office was a pile of food with a note on top that read “Please give to the <our last name> but don’t tell them who gave it to them.” Well, since it was there when he got there, he could definitely say he didn’t know who put it there. It was a very kind gesture and we are incredibly blessed to receive it.

One Moment of Kindness Can Change the World

The title of this post is the basic premise behind this entire project. The Kindness Movement is launching in one of the most economically depressed areas of Michigan. We believe that if people experience genuine kindness (as both giver AND receiver) then it will, in turn, lift spirits and potentially raise an economy out of the dumps.

If you have experienced a Random Act of Kindness, either as a giver OR a receiver, we would love for you to share your story. (You can attach your name to it or it can be posted anonymously) Just click HERE to submit your story.
